The group „Visualization and Medical Image Analysis“ deals with applications of machine learning in the field of medical image analysis. Current main applications are modeling, visualization and evaluation of neuroimaging data, especially diffusion MRI; support of epidemiological studies in ophthalmology; and tumor diagnosis and prognosis in nuclear medicine.

A methodological focus is on the combination of machine learning with interactive visualization, especially with regard to the interpretability and reliability of automatically generated results.
